Mojave Rangers: The Game

Mojave Rangers is a Live Action Role Play game (LARP) that uses tabletop RPG’s and video games as well as milsim and airsoft guns to teach real-world first aid, radio and outdoor skills.

The game is a live-action post-apocalyptic immersive roleplay weekend at a remote fort in the Mojave Desert. It takes special skills just to survive the environment for the weekend.

The Mojave Rangers game is 2 properly-trained and paid groups of contractors (MIKE Force v. OpFor) running their own operations against each other in a persistent, immersive campaign based at Ft. Edwards.

Rangers, Trainees, Settlers, Refugees and Mojave Residents are welcome to participate in the immersion in their chosen areas to the extent of their training and scope of practice, while the 1st SFG Good Guys go after the OpFor Raider Bad Guys every weekend.

This manual and the Ranger Basic Course are the instructions for how to play the game locally in your area, and learn the skills to be able to play for real at Ft. Edwards. The Field Manual also includes information on how to start your own Affiliated Club and how to get paid to help train your friends and family locally in first aid, radio and real-world outdoor skills.

The Story-line for the Game

Mojave Ranger School uses a post-apocalyptic theme largely based on the Fallout: New Vegas video game. The year is 2287 and the Mojave Rangers are being formed in the western Mojave near the remnants of the old Edwards Air Force Base.

The Mojave Rangers are a group of Mojave settlers who banded together to develop a local law enforcement agency based on the Texas Rangers, in order to bring some order to the local wastelands, based in a small fort on the western edge of the Mojave Desert, called Fort Edwards in honor of the former Air Force base a few miles away.

The NCR Situation Report

It’s been 4 years since Shady Sands was unexpectedly annihilated, and the lack of cohesive leadership in the Mojave has been reflected in the back-and-forth struggle between the NCR and Caesar’s Legion and the Brotherhood of Steel.

In 2287 the Mojave wastelands are a chaotic, sparsely-populated region that covers the bottom half of NCR territory. Most of the NCR population resides in the Central Valley and beyond, north of Necropolis. Ft. Fresno, in the state of Maxson, is the largest military base in the south-central valley.

Camp McCarran in New Vegas is HQ for the NCR Rangers and other units for the Mojave Campaign. The NCR and the Legion have largely pacified the raiders in the Mojave, which until recently have been scattered groups of bandits, thieves and fiends with no cohesive leadership.

Recently, the NCR 1st Recon has encountered raider packs being led by Brotherhood of Steel and Legion ‘advisors’, who offer a limited amount of training and equipment in order to entice raider packs to attack NCR facilities. These raider packs are significantly more well-trained and equipped and pose a major threat to NCR Mojave operations.

While both the Legion and BoS stand to gain from disrupting NCR supply lines and operations, the NCR Intelligence Section believes that the Enclave is actually at the root of the raider surge and that the BoS and Legion ‘advisors’ are actually Enclave Special Forces using local factions as cover.

Trained raider packs are a new complication in the Mojave and require a new response.
