The Merchant’s Guild Basic Course gives wasteland artists, authors, musicians and vendors the business information needed to manage an Affiliated Club and Merchant’s Guild Sales Team in their local areas in support of their local Ranger Training Teams.
The Merchant’s Guild Sales Team are wasteland vendors who carry Fort Edwards PX products at their booths at their local flea and farmer’s markets.
Each Ranger Training Club has an associated PX Sales Team to help provide local marketing and sales support. Ranger Training Clubs and Sales Team members work together and give demonstrations and short training classes at local flea and farmer’s markets and other events.
For-Profit, Cooperative Micro-Franchise
A Mojave Ranger Training Club is a for-profit micro-franchise that pays local instructors to manage a Mojave Rangers game in their local area. Fort Edwards is the central training and operational base for the Mojave Rangers, with Mobile Training Teams that operate remotely and bring trainees to the fort for certification.
3rd SOB has 6 Ranger Clubs at the moment. Each club operates as a for-profit micro-franchise with its own instructors, managers and Merchant’s Guild Sales Team.
Club Funding
Each club has a Team Link for the Fort Edwards PX and makes a 5% club commission on all sales made through the link. The 5% commissions are intended to pay for local club liability insurance and club operating costs.
Clubs make a 10% over-ride on all sales from their Merchant’s Guild Sales Team. The Merchant’s Guild Sales Team manages flea market, farmer’s market and event booths and sells Fort Edwards PX products.
Clubs make commissions on Credit Builder and ebook subscriptions and run annual sales campaigns.
Clubs with certified instructors run local BLS and aviation training, which provides incomes for their instructors as well as profits for the club.
Manager Training
3rd SOB provides free training for managers who want to establish a local club. Club Managers are required to complete the Ranger Basic, Leadership, Special Forces and C&GS training, which takes 2-3 years depending on the prospective manager’s starting experience.
This free apprenticeship program trains Club Managers in all aspects of 3rd SOB operations while helping managers build their own for-profit franchise from the ground up.
Rank-Based Stipends for Club Members
Club members who meet the requirements earn rank-based stipends, course graduate and other bonuses from the General Fund as well as other commissions as part of the Sales Team and as cadre for paid events.
Developing local Ranger Training Clubs lets 3rd SOB pay local instructors to teach first aid, radio and outdoor skills in their own neighborhoods, using a fun, post-apocalyptic LARP game.
Small Business Training
An Affiliated Club is the equivalent of a small retail store with a few regular contract employees and frequent volunteers and auxiliaries. Affiliated Clubs provide free training and sell products from the PX. An Affiliated Club is a small business that has 3 departments,
- Club Management: the President, Secretary and Treasurer who manage the local airsoft club
- Merchant’s Guild: The Merchant’s Guild manages the local flea and farmer’s market booths and other events for the Fort Edwards Post Xchange (PX).
- The Merchant’s Guild focuses on retail sales and marketing
- Merchant’s Guild are ‘civilians’ who represent the local merchants, artists and vendors who have products in the PX
- Mobile Training Team (MTT): The MTT manages the local ‘military’ training for the Mojave Rangers
- Ranger Basic, Team Role and Leadership courses are free
Commissions and Rank-Based Stipends
MTT members make rank-based stipends for their roles in the local system and can make personal commissions from the Merchant’s Guild also.
- Rank-based stipends: are for the professional milsim players who manage the Mojave Rangers game and post-apocalyptic immersion.
- Team Links: The Affiliated Club itself has a team link that team members and 3rd SOB promotes. The Team Link gives a 5% commission to the club, for club insurance, operating expenses and local staff events and bonuses, with additional portions of each sale going into the General Fund.
- Affiliated Clubs run annual sales drives locally to cover insurance and operating expenses
- Sales Links: Any 3rd SOB member can join the Sales Team and make a straight 10% commission on any products sold through their personal sales link. The Sales Team is a voluntary program and airsoft/milsim players are not required to join the Sales Team.
Joining the Sales Team
Any player who completes the Fort Phase (the first 3 trainings and drills) can apply for the optional Sales Team even if no rank-based positions are available locally. The purpose of the Sales Team is to allow any player with a minimal amount of training to participate in the sales programs and make commissions from helping market the products in the PX.
The more people who market the PXÂ and Amazon links, the more potential sales the business makes and the more money goes into the General Fund, which increases the stipends for the rank-based players also.
4 Phases of Training
Affiliated Club Management training runs on the same 4 phases as the rest of 3rd SOB,
- The Fort Phase: The first 3 trainings/drills cover the basic business training for how 3rd SOB works
- The Patrol Base Phase: The second 3 trainings/drills cover remote sales and marketing at flea markets and events
- SAR Phase: The next 4 trainings/drills cover online sales, social and multimedia marketing
- ERC and YOUHAD: November and December have the Expert Rifleman Challenge and the Yearly Operational Unit Holiday Avoidance Drill (YOUHAD).
- Affiliated Club Management training covers how to manage the events locally
- year end management tasks and accounting
