Mojave Rangers: The Game
How to Play the Game
The Business Behind the Game

Hi,
I’m Rex with the Mojave Ranger School, a Fallout-themed, family-friendly, members-only, post-apocalyptic renaissance fair with 2 sponsored milsim teams where the entire family can train to Scouting merit badge standards for most of the merit badges.
What I’m Doing
Imagine that you were tasked with building a desert ranger station that’s the equivalent of an Old West fort, but then the funding fell out because the funders got nuked.
So the ranger station has to become self-funding and find a way to pay for the Ranger training. That’s the game that I’m playing.
I will GIVE this project to the people who help me build it.
Business Planning
Not Looking for Investors: I’m a retired on disability full-time RV’er with no major debt or overhead, already have the property, already have products on the market and I’m only looking for a 50-100 people at a time to be onsite because it’s meant to be a small gathering of trainees and families and friends, not a massive commercial venture.
Like an Old West fort, most of the people involved on any given weekend will be managing the fort and trainings and getting paid to be there.
Once that’s established then there are a huge range of paid events that could be run from the venue.
So rather than giving 90% of the business to investors for convenience and speed we can give that money to the sales reps (Gun Runners) and ranger station staff with dividends for the Plank Owners who build the system.
Since I’m not looking for investors, I’m putting a short Business Planning section in the back of the Field Manual, temporarily, which describes the sales programs that support the fort – https://mojaverangerschool.com/FMdownload

Mojave Ranger School team and business communications happen on our self-hosted forums, not on social media or Discord. While social media is convenient and fun it’s not a reliable tool.

Paid Apprentice Program
Mojave Ranger School is built on an older project that was a teen emergency services apprentice program designed to pay high-school’ers to learn to be financially self-sufficient Paramedics and Wildland Firefighters who own their own training business when they graduate high school.
There are aspects of this project that will probably confuse anyone who hasn’t had a certain amount of FEMA training, so get on the forums and ask questions and get the FEMA IS 100 and 200 online courses (links are in the Ranger Basic Course).
The FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) is, technically, an apprentice program that trains emergency managers from a single resource out through a nationwide command.
The Mojave Ranger School Project
My retirement business is a Fallout-themed campground in Kern Co where I want to run a persistent, immersive milsim campaign between 2 sponsored airsoft teams with a small Ranger Station and market village where people get paid to play the Mojave Rangers Game – https://mojaverangerschool.com/thegamestory
Post-Apocalyptic Renaissance Fair with Real-World Training
My 2.5 acre Ranger Station (Mojave Station) and market village (the Village of Vista de Nada) are a small members-only weekend ren fair where we run FREE real-world first aid, radio and milsim skills training while the family and friends of the trainees enjoy our
shady market village.
It’s bare dirt and sage brush at the moment and I don’t intend to build anything permanent on it.
Mojave Station is 1-mile North of Wasteland City – https://www.wastelandweekend.com/
Sponsored by a Publishing Company
Mojave Ranger School, LLC is a small publishing company with a variety of field manuals, classic novels and game manuals coming available in January, 2027.
I’ll have the Credit Builder Fundraiser online in 2027: customers get a $5 ebook subscription and a good credit reference each month for as long as the subscription runs.
Gun Runners make a 20% commission ($1 per subscription, each month as long as the subscription runs) on products that get fulfilled automatically.
The Mojave Ranger Field Manual
The Field Manual has the basic instructions for the game as well as the business.
The Field Manual, Ranger Basic Course and Ranger Task Book make up a self-paced system that allows anyone, anywhere to train to Scouting Merit Badge compatibility in most of the merit badges.
The Mojave Ranger training system is built directly on the FEMA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) framework. The 10 trainings & drills in the Ranger Basic Course train the entire family to FEMA standards in team training and the Incident Command System (ICS).
The Mojave Ranger Training System
The Mojave Ranger training system scales infinitely based on having trained managers available. Rank-based stipends and course graduate bonuses incentivize trainees to move upwards through the paid apprenticeship to learn to manage their own local Ranger Station and Mojave Rangers game.
Every cop, firefighter, EMT and many high-level civil employees get trained each year in the Incident Command System (ICS), which means that there are many millions of trained incident managers all over the country. How many of them are Fallout fans?
The Mojave Ranger training system is free to use and camping and training at Mojave Station is free for trainees and their families.
Money is a Side-Effect of this Business
The goal with this business is to use publishing to pay for a weekend Live-Action Fallout: New Vegas game that people can play for free while they learn real-world outdoor skills as well as how to develop their own local game in their own neighborhoods.
Trainees can get discounted manuals, airsoft guns and gear and a variety of wasteland goods directly from wasteland vendors, which creates an income stream for our vendors while saving money for trainees.
Catalog sales create the General Fund disbursements to staff and trainees rather than funneling money upwards through a corporate pyramid and then into offshore accounts.
Members-only, not open to the public. You have to qualify to play here.
The membership is free but it requires completing parts of the Ranger Basic Course, which will weed out most of the problems.
There’s 30 million people within 3-hours of Mojave Station. I’m only looking for a couple hundred.
Wasteland Gallery and the Vista de Nada General Store
The project is funded through the Vista de Nada General Store and Wasteland Gallery, and other shops at Vista de Nada.
The Gun Runners Sales Team is an optional program available to anyone who completes the Station Phase of the Ranger Basic Course. Gun Runners make a 5-20% commission, same as Avon, on sales made through their links.
Gun Runners are the hunters for the project.

Wasteland Gallery is one of the 10×10 shops at Mojave Station and features post apocalyptic fine art in 8×10 and 16×20 sizes.
